Hi, Iām Mahala
(pronounced Mah-hay-la)

I am an ADHD queer identified trauma-informed therapist who is committed to transparency and advocacy in the therapeutic process, deciding together what approaches align best and adjusting as needed. I believe that transformative healing has to happen on the individual and community level. As an anti-oppressive, liberation based therapist, I operate from the belief that we cannot heal ourselves until we acknowledge systemic issues such as white supremacy, ableism, patriarchy, colonization and capitalism that impact us all and actively contribute to our mental stability, our relationship with our bodies, and our relationships to others.
My Approach
Starting therapy can be overwhelming. My priority is to provide clients a safe, nonjudgemental space to be their most authentic selves. I am committed to challenging limiting beliefs, validating feelings and emotions, encouraging self-advocacy, by designing a unique approach that allows for healing through curiosity, humor and action. My approach focuses on cultivating a trauma-informed safe, culturally affirming and nurturing space for clients of all intersectionalities to explore, situations or triggers from their past as well as the present that impact thoughts, behavior and reactions.
